It's Monday again! How the heck did that happen? And the fact that the first month of 2011 is on it's back - yeah, that's another head scratcher. This weekend we (in no particular order):
I love the way food seems to play a central part in the life of Molly from Orangette - the way she recounts stories of her childhood, her stints in Paris (lucky duck), those first few heady months with her then husband-to-be, even the death of her beloved dad, all of them interspersed with memorable dishes, aromas and tastes.
Whenever I make this, I have visions of a Nina Simone-esque alter ego, sipping a tall glass of iced coffee, before performing the pants off of everyone in the room. Yes, yes, I know milk isn't exactly good for one's singing voice, but hey, indulge me, wouldya? The strains of bluesy jazz songs starts filtering into my thoughts as soon as I take the first sip of this decidedly grown-up version of iced coffee. Don't ask me why, imagination is an odd thing.
I feel like Austin Powers today. Yeah baby, yeah! Not only do I have a soft spot in my heart for the styles and music of the swinging sixties (don't ask me why, I wasn't even born yet), but over the past few weeks I have also lost and found my mojo. My blogging mojo that is. Fortunately, I didn't have to do battle with Dr Evil and his sharks with "freakin' lasers on their freakin' heads". I did however, have my own, insanely cute mini-me to tend to. Not that I was in any way upset about that fact of course...
A quick one, just for you dear readers, in the few seconds I can steal away from the auditors' judging eyes. Don't say I won't jump through hoops for you!
Didya get that? Or are you also still zombie brained from the (always-too-brief) holidays? You may pick up your membership card to Zombies R Us on your way out. So, after two weeks of doing nothing, glorious nothing!, it's back to the grindstone for me. And not just back to the grindstone, but back and with a HUGE deadline looming. Bleurgh.
But enough work-talk, you probably want to know what I did on my summer break right?
